KOtrl is a lightweight software suite for creative installations. It is made to be used in elaborate show control setups like in museums, exhibitions, theater shows and amusement parks. At the heart of the suite is the main KOtrl software that helps to integrate computers within a show control network. Main features are:

Third party software control

KOtrl can automatically start, stop and reboot third party software like Unity games, DAW software, show control software or any application needed.

Windows control

Windows can have a life of its own. KOtrl is made to turn off Windows functions that may be useful to consumers but are unwanted in stand alone kiosks, game setups and video servers.

Network connectivity

Control your computer via UDP and http. Reboot, shutdown, restart software, change the desktop, start or stop Windows Explorer, wake up other computers in the network and many many more functions.

Content control

Backup or sync your content locally or to a NAS, controlled by network or automatically.

Automation

Builtin are a few automation tools like an automatic startup and shutdown of projectors via PJlink (at startup and shutdown of the computer), sync or backup content from a content server or reboot/shutdown at a specific time.

KOtrl is developed by KlankOntwerp. In 2016 it started as RP Showcontrol. Its intellectual ownership belongs to KlankOntwerp.

More tools

KlankOntwerp offers more custom software tools to aid interactive installations, content and show control. Some of these are:

KOtrl Watchkennel – a tool (watchdog) that checks if your software tools are still running and restarts it if they are not

KOtrl BattStat– a tool that checks the status of the battery of the computer (which can be a USB connected UPS for the whole installation) and shuts down devices on the network if the battery goes low

KlankOntwerp AudioServer – a sound server that can play multiple tracks via Dante or a multichannel audio device and that can be triggered over the network. This audio server can also play 3D spatial audio based on xyz-data of the speakers.
